THE PEOPLE PUZZLE

Things We Do That Say We’re Human

The People Puzzle is comfortable, can’t put it down reading that will warm your heart and nourish your soul.  It’s a lighthearted treasury of insights into human-kind from someone who has seen the good the bad and the absurd … and lived to tell about it.  From blending families, raising kids, and how the sexes behave, to growing older, accepting retirement, and stories of life in a gentler time.  The People Puzzle is the kind of book you pick up when you need a friendly arm around your shoulder, or begin to wonder who that person is peeking back at you from the mirror.  It’s a reassuring wink and a nod that says you and I are okay … just human!

“As you read his book, you are likely to get that same,
friendly, arm around your shoulder feeling that I did.
It would be smart to keep the book where you can easily find it the next time you need the warm touch of a friend.”

Pieces from the Puzzle

The Christmas Sandwich

All the warmth and wonder of Christmas isn’t found under the tree, in a manger, or even in the eyes of a child. I would like to believe Christmas is a season that brings out the inner beauty of us all, even in the most unlikely of places. The first major snowfall of...

Turkeys ‘n’ Pilgrims

Little Randy had filled himself to the brim with turkey and stuffing and family good cheer. After reaching his quota of pats on the head from old maiden aunts and exclamations of “My, how big you’re getting!” from other well-meaning relations, he put on his coat and...

An Elephant Is Like A Tree

Thumbing through "The People Puzzle" and merely reading a chapter here or a chapter there, is like the proverbial three blind men trying to describe an elephant.  The first one, touching the trunk, says an elephant is like a snake; the second one, grasping the...

“When it comes to femmes fatale, with soft curves and jiggly things, let’s
establish right up front that guys never stop looking. As long as they are still
drawing breath, their last drop of testosterone is routed to their eye sockets
even before their hearts and lungs.”

“The mind is like a wife: It’s the one in control whether the rest of your body
knows it or not.”

“Kids fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones, even lost teeth, and there were
no lawsuits from those accidents. We received spankings with wooden spoons or just a bare hand and no one called the authorities to report child abuse. We ate mud pies and worms, got .22s and BB guns, but nobody ever shot his eye out.”
